About Wildflowers

Learning at Wildflowers

At Wildflowers children aged two to six years are outside each morning getting fresh air and exercise, discovering the wonders of nature and enjoying the changing seasons, dressed appropriately for the weather. The children invent, construct and express themselves whilst playing imaginative games using resources the woodlands offer. They get involved and develop the attitudes needed to meet challenges and persist.

On our return, the children aged over three come inside to rest and share a warm meal before engaging in creative and practical activities in the afternoon, such as painting, drawing, modelling, building with blocks, baking, sweeping or planting.

Learning within Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum happens throughout the day, in meaningful contexts. We continuously observe the children and provide for progress towards the statutory Early Learning Goals.

Studies have shown that pre-school eduction in outdoor nurseries to a greater degree than in the ones indoors promote children's emotional well-being and confidence, attention and concentration skills, physical well-being and health, balance and coordination, language and communication skills, problem solving skills and creativity and cooperation in play.
